Our Wedding

We officially started our adventure together in 2022, though we had known each other for a while before that around work. Like every great love story, ours had a few hiccups along the way. But after spending a few quality moments — and a few bridge watches together— we fell in love and realized there was something pretty special between us.Not long after, we started traveling the world together. Along the way we’ve collected amazing memories, great stories, and have spent more time than we ever expected hanging out in airport lounges. Between early flights, new places, and plenty of laughs, we realized we had found our favorite person to do life with.Now we’re getting ready to start our biggest adventure yet — marriage! We’re so excited to celebrate with all of you and can’t wait for many more years of traveling, laughing, and navigating life together.

For those of you visiting Alaska for the first time, welcome! Most guests will fly into Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. The wedding venue is in Wasilla, about a one-hour scenic drive along the Glenn Highway. You have a few options for getting to Wasilla: rental car, rideshare (Uber/Lyft), bus, or train. We’ll list some details and schedules here for you to make an informed decision. If you'd like to share a ride, consider coordinating with other guests arriving around the same time or contact us—we’re happy to help coordinate! As far as your stay goes, there are some hotel options within a 15 minute drive from the resort along with several air bnbs and cabin rentals. There is parking at the resort for RVs (no hookups) and plenty of space to camp. Please choose what best suites you! Helpful Rental Car TipsMost guests choose to rent a car at Anchorage Airport. The drive to Wasilla is straightforward and scenic.• Book early, especially for summer travel when demand is high.• Renting from the airport is usually most convenient.• SUVs or AWD are useful if you plan to explore beyond Anchorage but are not required for the drive to Wasilla in fall.• Gas stations are available along the route; start with a full tank when possible.• If arriving late, confirm rental counter hours in advance.

There is a scenic train that runs from downtown Anchorage to Wasilla. When booking, it is called the Denali Star Train. You depart on the northbound train from Anchorage at 08:20 am and arrive in Wasilla at 09:30 am. There is a southbound train that will return you to Anchorage after the festivities. You will have to uber from the airport to the train depot and from the train station in Wasilla to the venue.

We have 10 rooms blocked off at the Best Western Lake Lucille (all king beds, 6 single rooms and 4 suites). When you call just tell them our wedding code McManwood Wedding and they will get you set up. We have them blocked off from August 31st through the 4th but you can book the room for the days you need. Rooms will be held up to 45 days prior to the wedding.

We do not have a formal room block reserved at this location, so availability is not guaranteed. However, we have secured discounted rates for our wedding dates. To book, you can call the hotel at any time prior to the wedding and mention the McManwood Wedding to receive the discount. Room options include single queen and double queen accommodations.

There’s plenty to do in the days around our wedding in Wasilla—explore scenic trails, take in the mountain views, or relax with family and friends. Whether you’re up for a short hike, a visit to the Alaska state Fair, or wandering local shops, we hope you use this time to enjoy the beauty of Alaska and make memories together.

Alaska State Fair — A lively annual fair with food vendors, live shows, midway rides, and craft booths; a fun, family-friendly outing about 20 minutes from Wasilla (2075 Glenn Hwy).

Hatcher Pass — Dramatic alpine scenery and outdoor adventure about 10 minutes from Wasilla; perfect for day trips. Visit Independence Mine State Historical Park to learn the area’s gold‑mining history, hike to Summit Lake or along the Gold Mint Trail for wildflower-filled meadows and views, and enjoy scenic drives with roadside berry‑picking in season. In winter, the pass transforms into a playground for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
